الوصف

Axl and Beatrice are an elderly couple in a mythical post-Arthurian Britain where a strange mist has settled over the whole country, dissolving memory along with it — nobody quite remembers their own past, including the couple themselves. Kazuo Ishiguro sends them on a journey to find a son they can barely recall, through a landscape that still has ogres, dragons, and the fading wreckage of Arthur’s legacy scattered across it. Underneath the fantasy trappings, the novel is really asking what a marriage, or a country, actually is once the memory holding it together starts to lift.
