Ibrahim Abdel Meguid's novel follows Shagara, an employee at an Alexandria shipyard, during the political and social changes of the 1970s. An assignment to gather workers for President Nixon's visit becomes the starting point for a story of loneliness, desire and a city whose landscape is changing around him.
