In July 1944, as the tide of the Second World War begins to turn, the city of Paris remains a dangerous place under German occupation. Arielle von Auspeck is living a life of high society until her husband is executed for his involvement in a plot against Hitler. Suddenly branded a traitor's widow, she is forced to flee the city with her two young children to seek refuge in the rural landscape of Normandy. To survive, Arielle sheds her aristocratic identity and assumes a new persona, eventually finding her way into the ranks of the French Resistance. Amidst the chaos of the Allied invasion and the desperate struggle for liberation, she must navigate a web of secrets and danger to protect her family and fight for a future in a world torn apart by conflict.
