Description
From former Google product designer turned successful children’s author Vicky Fang comes another charming and vibrant installment in the highly popular early reader series. Part of Scholastic’s specially developed Acorn imprint, this delightful episodic book follows two lovable pet friends named Sniff and Scratch as they embark on a series of curious learning adventures on a rainy afternoon. Across three humorous, easy-to-follow short stories, the dynamic duo encounters the wonders of natural weather patterns and daily items, beginning with their first steps outside into a fresh rainstorm.
Though initially uncertain about what to make of the downpour, the two friends quickly overcome their hesitation to discover exactly how much fun splashing around in the wet environment can be. Their playful day continues with a funny investigation of a mysterious string attached to a stray balloon. Ultimately, when loud thunder rumbles and flashes of lightning startle them, the companions learn the ultimate value of teamwork, bravery, and finding comfort together in a safe hiding spot. Featuring rhythmic vocabulary, color-coded dialogue speech bubbles, and wonderfully expressive illustrations by Luisa Leal, this volume is expertly structured to build reading confidence, introduce early science concepts, and reinforce real-world emotional resilience for emerging readers.
