Elle is a 27-year-old screenwriter with a chance of a lifetime to write a big-budget movie set in New York City. The only problem? A brutal case of writer's block. Desperate for inspiration, she returns to the city she once fled, only to discover her new neighbor is tech billionaire Parker Warren; the same guy she had a disastrous, "hate-at-first-sight" hookup with two years ago. When seeing him again sparks a night of hate-fueled writing, Elle realizes Parker might be her "twisted muse." They strike a deal: Parker needs a fake girlfriend to secure a business acquisition, and Elle needs a partner to test classic NYC date spots for her script. As they spend the summer exploring the city's landmarks, their "fake" relationship begins to feel dangerously real, forcing them to confront past traumas and their undeniable chemistry.
