After a breakup, a young man known as Local moves from Alexandria to Cairo and finds an old accordion in his apartment. Together with a roommate who takes up the saxophone, he begins making music without formal training. Their experiments lead through Cairo’s hangouts and music scene in the early 2000s, in a novel about friendship and finding a voice.
