Description
“A delightful addition to the Collector’s Editions, introducing tales from ancient and medieval Arabic literature. ‘The Merchant and the Genie’, ‘The Fisherman and the Genie’, ‘The Porter and the Three Ladies’, ‘The Three Apples’… The folk and fairy tales of Western Asia find their origins in Arabic and Indian oral storytelling, and the medieval literature of the Arab world.
The stories have found their way into everyday culture of the modern era, with new versions and interpretations breathing new life into classic themes. The Book of the Seven Vizirs, The Tale of the Four Dervishes, the famous stories of Sinbad, and the tales of Scheherazade are brought together here as a magical thread of love and adventure, invoking the mysteries of the night and the mirages of the desert. With a new introduction.”.
