Description
In this sweet classic from the 1950s, a group of unlikely companions—a cat, dog, bird, turtle, bunny, chick, and squirrel—all live together in a small house in the woods. While they are perfectly happy to share chores, keep the house tidy, and be quiet during nap time, they face a major hurdle: they cannot agree on what to eat. Each animal takes turns cooking, but the others find the meals unappealing—the dog’s juicy bones and the cat’s liver don’t suit the bird or the bunny. After a group meeting by the fire to discuss their individual needs, they realize that to truly be happy, they each need a home that provides for their specific nature. The story concludes with each friend finding their perfect environment—from a cozy house with a little girl for the cat to a garden for the bunny—leading them all to joyfully declare they have finally found the best home of all.
