Scott Cawthon

American game creator, animator and novelist of Five Nights at Freddy’s

Haunted animatronics, retro family pizzerias and sinister mechanical folklore define the horror world of Scott Cawthon. Born in Texas in 1978, Cawthon worked as an independent game developer and animator before creating the survival horror phenomenon Five Nights at Freddy's in 2014. To expand the franchise’s deep background lore, he co-authored a series of horror novels with Kira Breed-Wrisley, beginning with The Silver Eyes in 2015, followed by The Twisted Ones and The Fourth Closet. His anthology series Fazbear Frights, featuring novellas like Into the Pit, explores uncanny urban legends and eerie mechanical creations. Readers fascinated by suspenseful technology and gaming mysteries can begin with The Silver Eyes.
