Jennifer Lynn Barnes

American psychologist and author of high-stakes YA mystery and puzzle thrillers

Intricate puzzles, hidden architectural secrets and high-stakes games of inheritance drive the mystery thrillers of Jennifer Lynn Barnes. Born in Tulsa, Oklahoma, in 1984, Barnes holds a doctorate in psychology from Yale University, where she studied cognitive science and the psychology of fiction. Her academic background sharpens her portrayal of deceptive character motivations and deductive reasoning. In The Inheritance Games, teenage Avery Grambs navigates a riddle-filled mansion and rival heirs after inheriting an eccentric billionaire's fortune, a sequence expanding through The Hawthorne Legacy and The Final Gambit. Her earlier series, The Naturals, explores gifted FBI prodigies profiling serial killers. Readers who enjoy intellectual puzzles and rapid-fire mysteries can start with The Inheritance Games.
