Enid Blyton

British author of adventure, mystery and fantasy for children

Secret meeting places, unexplained events and journeys beyond familiar surroundings fill Enid Blyton's stories. Born in 1897, she wrote across several kinds of children's literature, from the investigations of the Famous Five and Secret Seven to the changing magical worlds of The Faraway Tree. School stories such as Malory Towers offer another route into her work, while Noddy belongs to her writing for younger children. Her series often return to groups of characters whose shared adventures encourage readers to pick up the next book. Blyton died in 1968, leaving stories that continue to appear in different editions and adaptations.
