Dan Brown

American thriller novelist of secret societies, cryptology and historical symbology

Ancient religious brotherhoods, cryptic Renaissance artworks and ticking-clock international chases define Dan Brown’s high-velocity symbology thrillers. Born in New Hampshire in 1964, Brown taught English and Spanish before channeling his passion for codes, secret archives and conspiracy into fiction. In Angels & Demons, he introduced Harvard symbologist Robert Langdon racing across Rome against the Illuminati, followed by The Da Vinci Code, which provoked international debate by weaving hidden meanings into Leonardo’s paintings and Christian history. Further adventures in The Lost Symbol, Inferno and Origin explore scientific advances, Dante’s poetry and futuristic threats. Readers fascinated by rapid-fire historical mysteries and cryptology find an exhilarating entry point in The Da Vinci Code.
