Aaron Blabey

Australian author and illustrator of The Bad Guys and Pig the Pug

Aaron Blabey finds comedy in characters whose behaviour gets them into trouble. In The Bad Guys, a group of intimidating-looking animals tries to change its reputation; in Pig the Pug, a selfish dog creates the problem at the heart of each picture-book story. Born in Australia in 1974, Blabey worked as an actor before becoming known for writing and illustrating children's books. His other creations include Thelma the Unicorn and Cat on the Run. His picture book Pearl Barley and Charlie Parsley received the Children's Book Council of Australia Book of the Year award for early childhood in 2008.
