Description
Chris McCandless graduated college in 1991, gave away most of what he owned, and walked into the Alaskan wilderness under a new name he’d chosen for himself, Alexander Supertramp. His body was found in an abandoned bus four months later. Jon Krakauer, a mountaineer and outdoor writer himself, retraces McCandless’s route west and the choices that led him there, treating the story less as a cautionary tale than as a real attempt to understand what he was actually looking for.
